In Couserans the practice of the transhumance on foot has been re-launched since June 2000.
The traditional itinerary that passes through the centre of the Couserans region in the Pyrenees (following the river "Salat") was reopened, for the transport of the flocks towards the mountain pastures.
The transhumance days is an occasion for breeders and shepherds to get together, exchange and share. It is an emotional and cultural moment, a celebration of the pastoral traditions.
The Transhumance is the expression of countryside ethics and a transmitter of the values of respect.
